Anglican Carnival II
by Fr. Daniel Sparks ~ October 6, 2006. Filed under: Faith & Church. The second edition of the Anglican Carnival is available today. Those interested in learning more about the Anglican Carnival should visit www.anglicancarnival.com.
The Rev. David Beckmann, of GladToBeAnglican, offers us a sermon entitled “Good Shepherds - St. John 10“, in which he offers an exposition of St. John 10:1-21. The sermon begins with a mention of Stephen Langton’s work and a discussion of the division of chapters 9 and 10. After a brief explanation of how the main topic of the pericope concerns good and bad shepherds, a review of the three-fold work of the parish priest ensues, with practical applications concerning the motives and duties of the parish priest.
In the Theology and Ethics section of Lidquidoxology, Dr. Anette Ejsing gives us food for thought in “You Cannot Play the Piano on a Violin“. The post reflects on Christian love that “keeps no record of wrongs”.
Sin is often overwhelmingly present in creation. So says Jason Kranzusch at axegrinder. His post, “The Scar“, argues that the atonement of Christ is God’s overcoming answer.
Finally, yours truly, humble author of Miserere Mei, begins a year-long deployment to Iraq. The series “Dusty Boots” covers my thoughts and experiences as a U.S. Army chaplain in the Middle East.
By the way, simply by participating in the Anglican Carnival this week, Fr. David Beckmann of GladToBeAnglican won a copy of Hugh Hewitt’s book Blog. This is just one small incentive for participation in the Carnival. Send in your submissions and you may be eligible to win a prize in future drawings.
