Tim LambesisThe Ugly Church Stuff file makes its way to the top of the pile again in this story about a Christian metal singer who turns out to be an atheist. By the way, he also tried to hire someone to kill off his wife. This isn’t one of those nice little fluff pieces that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.

According to The Christian Post

Tim Lambesis, lead singer and founder of Christian metalcore band As I Lay Dying, recently confessed that he and other members of his band had become atheists but kept claiming to be Christians so they could keep making money selling records to Christians.

Who’d a thunk? If the money’s good, I suppose there’s little reason to quit the business. After all, if you have no absolute standard of morality, it’s easy to only be on the lookout for Number One.

Then, again, seems to me eyebrows should have gone up when someone first mentioned the phrase “Christian metal band”. What?

It gets worse.

Lambesis was arrested on May 7, 2013, in Oceanside, California, for attempting to hire a hitman to murder his estranged wife and subsequently sentenced to six years in prison on May 16, 2014.

Hmm. Why do I have the feeling that somewhere there are some really gullible or self-deluded folks holding out for the singer’s grand return to Christian show biz in six years?
