The Pastoral Reading Group is a weekly meeting of evangelical ministers who read and reflect on short Christian works helpful for ministerial life.
Christian pastors and other ministers, ministerial candidates, and seminarians are invited to participate in the group. Some are ordained and some not, but the group is limited to those who are in ministry or who are preparing for ministry. Only one person from a particular church or ministry may participate at a time, which will allow freedom in sharing in the group.
Each group is kept intentionally small to facilitate meaningful discussion. While participants from around the world are welcomed, all group meetings are conducted in English.
The group meets weekly for one hour, using Zoom videoconferencing. Book selections are relatively short to limit demands on the minister’s schedule. Each week, the ministers read a section of the book, and then the group discusses the text during the conference call.
Books may be acquired from any source. Either print or digital editions will suffice. Audio books are not recommended unless accompanied by a visual text, for easy reference during group discussion.
There is no cost to join, but you must provide evidence that you have a copy of the book by emailing a purchase receipt or photo of you with the book. You must also sign up for a free Zoom videoconferencing account, update the profile with your name and picture, and use video/audio during the weekly call.
